Get Driving Test Ready is an independent guide for learner drivers in Great Britain. We explain every stage between getting your provisional licence and passing your practical test: the theory test and its 14 topics, hazard perception, road signs, the Highway Code, and what examiners look for on the day.
Our aim is simple: clear, current and honest information. Driving test rules change, and a surprising amount of what is online is out of date, including advice written before the Highway Code changes of January 2022. Every guide on this site is checked against GOV.UK, DVSA guidance and the current Highway Code, and shows when it was last reviewed.
How we write our guides
- We base guidance on official sources (GOV.UK, the DVSA and the Highway Code) and link to them so you can check for yourself.
- Where a Highway Code rule applies, we give the rule number rather than paraphrasing from memory.
- We never copy practice questions from other websites or apps. Any practice questions we publish are written by us or used under licence, and we say which.
- We correct mistakes quickly. If you spot one, please tell us.
